Lithuanian representatives took home 6 prizes from the Central and Eastern European Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards in Warsaw. Vilnius was named the most dynamically developing city for shared services centres in the region for the fourth year in a row. Meanwhile, the talent attraction programme “Work in Lithuania” was recognized as the Top Public Sector Initiative of the Year.
Lithuania based international companies also received awards for their achievements. Danske Bank (GSL) was named the Shared Services Firm of the Year in the Baltic States for a second time, while Cognizant Technology Solutions became the BPO firm of 2017. Western Union Processing Lithuania received an award for Robotics/RPA Implementation and its General Manager Mr. Šarūnas Šuipis came home with Business Centre Manager of the Year award.
This year, Lithuanian cities and companies operating in the country were nominated in 15 categories. Both Vilnius and Kaunas received nominations as cities, while Telia, Danske Bank (GSL), Western Union, Nasdaq, Adform, Bentley Systems, Wix.com, NFQ Technologies and Skandia were nominated in multiple categories for their achievements. This was the sixth consecutive year of the CEE Shared Services and Outsourcing Awards, which is organized by CEE Business Media. The awards are adjudicated by an independent panel of industry professionals who recognise excellence in the region’s Shared Services and Outsourcing sector. More than 50 companies from Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Latvia, and Lithuania received nominations for this year’s awards. The black-tie event, organized in Warsaw’s Intercontinental Hotel on January 31 – February 1, brought together over 300 guests who attended presentations and took part in discussions prior to the award ceremony.
Lithuania’s established and expanding GBS sector is currently home to more than 60 international service centres, employing around 15,000 professionals. And the expectations are that these numbers will continue to rise. This year will see Booking.com – the world’s largest hotel reservation platform – enter the country with plans to employ as many as 900 people in the coming years.
