Apple-endorsed Revel Systems to expand operations in Lithuania

January 20, 2017

Revel Systems, a US technology company which provides innovative point of sale payment solutions to companies around the world, is rapidly expanding its operations in Lithuania. In 2017, the company plans to add more programming and technical support specialists to its Vilnius team. Described by Apple as ‘a leader and an example in innovative payment solutions,’ the company is proud of the projects it implemented in 2016, both in Lithuania and beyond. Moreover, its specialists in Lithuania are being entrusted with increasingly larger projects, including in neighbouring countries. For example, this year Revel’s Lithuanian team will be responsible for implementing a wide ranging renovation of Royal Dutch Shell service stations in Poland.

Revel Systems, which started its operations in Lithuania in September 2015, offers innovative point of sale (POS) payment solutions based on cloud computing to companies in the Horeca sector. Over the last few years, the company has refined the range of activities undertaken in Lithuania. The Vilnius office now focuses on technical service and solution development, with sales functions moved to Revel’s division in London.

“In September, we celebrated our first anniversary,” explains Revel Systems’ Human Resources Manager in Lithuania, Rasa Berškiene. “During this time, we have built strong teams of programmers, technical support specialists and managers operating globally. Our team of highly-qualified, experienced and hardworking Lithuanian specialists are open to innovation, and they have gained the trust of shareholders and investors. As a result, we will further expand the team this year.”

And Mrs Berškiene is confident that Revel will be able to attract additional talented professionals to its Vilnius team. “We realise that we work in a tremendously tense and competitive information technologies market; however we are certain that the attractiveness of the company will help us to strengthen the team with new members that have specialist skills.” And industry experts agree with her assessment. In December, the US news portal Business Insider selected Revel Systems as one of the most attractive start-ups to work for in 2017.

In Lithuania, the company is looking for programmers (Python and iOS) and customer technical support specialists.

“When companies that are recognised by huge international players are expanding in Lithuania, it tells the story of their own success as well as that of Lithuania,” says Mantas Katinas, Managing Director of the foreign investment promotion agency Invest Lithuania. “Once again, this proves that the country has excellent talents who develop products that can compete on an international level. We hope that the number of information technology specialists in Lithuania will increase further, and that they will be able to contribute to the creation of new success stories both for the investors and the country,” Mr Katinas concludes.

Leslie F. Leaf, Vice President of Customer Support at Revel Systems, says that the performance of the company in Lithuania exceeded their expectations: “In just over a year we built a great team in Vilnius. Lithuanians are known for their professionalism and responsibility; because of this we are entrusting them with the implementation of increasingly more complex projects. For example, this year the Lithuanian team plans to implement a large project with Royal Dutch Shell in Poland, where they will introduce our POS solutions in Shell filling stations and take care of the equipment maintenance.”

Revel systems in growing rapidly, and making waves in the payment solutions sector. The company recently came in for praise from the technology giant Apple. When announcing its Q4 results, it named the company a leader in iPad payment solutions and an example of how companies could effectively utilise the potential of smart devices.
