Nordic multi-brand fashion sales platform Boozt to expand its Lithuanian branch

June 07, 2023

Boozt has been scaling its cooperation with Lithuanian developers for nearly a decade. In 2021, this cooperation culminated in the launch of Boozt Technology Baltics in Vilnius. Seeing rapid growth over the past 2 years, and even almost doubling its Lithuanian workforce, the company is now seeking to further expand its operations in the country by growing their team.

Founded in 2011 in Malmö, Sweden, Boozt Fashion AB was formed, with the strategy of offering customers the preferred online department store experience. Boozt developed a platform featuring a curated selection of fashion, kids, sport, beauty and home brands. Over the next 10 years, Boozt grew its overall workforce from 34 to 1,000+ people and currently has offices in Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Lithuania.

According to Marco Rosello, Web development director at Boozt, the decision to open a branch in Lithuania was based on the cultural similarities with Sweden and the short, one-hour flight that separates them. In 2022, at the suggestion of Boozt’s employees, the office was moved to Paupio Darboteka, providing as many as 100 individual workstations and bringing the team closer together.

Boozt Technology Baltics – currently employing 50+ people, most of whom are software developers – accounts for 27% of the company’s global IT personnel. In 2023, Boozt plans to expand the IT branch in Vilnius. For this purpose, it is now looking for mid- senior-level PHP developers, Site Reliability Engineers and App developers.

Marco Rosello said that sales performance is not the only thing he appreciates about the company’s branch in Vilnius.

The team in Lithuania collaborates with teams in Sweden, Denmark and Poland to implement various complex Boozt functions, including ensuring the smooth operation of the company's two mobile applications and online store, as well as developing solutions that facilitate the huge amount of data Boozt gathers about the goods. The Boozt team in Lithuania is also in charge of the 1,000 AutoStore robots that operate and collect items in the automated warehouse located in Sweden. More than 50 developers at the Vilnius office are part of the Boozt Platform department, which consists of 190+ developers in total.

The company is also an active participant in the Vilnius PHP meetups that help it to consolidate its presence in the country. Now, it hosts a variety of knowledge-sharing gatherings, the annual Boozt Platform Conference, internal hackathons, and Scandinavian Fika talks dedicated to cutting-edge technologies.

According to Elijus Čivilis, General Manager at Invest Lithuania, Boozt Technology Baltics is a prime example of what Lithuanian talent is capable of – and further proof that our long-term strategy for making the country attractive to international market players is paying dividends. “Given the company’s rapid growth over the past two years, I have no doubt that expanding its Lithuanian team will enable Boozt to continue pushing the envelope in terms of seeking goals in 2023, and beyond,” said Mr. Čivilis.
