Peikko Group, a leading global supplier of concrete connections and composite structures, has decided to construct a new facility in Lithuania to produce its Deltabeam® composite beams. The new production unit will be built next to Peikko’s existing facility in Kaunas, with total approved investment exceeding €9 million for the project. Peikko are targeting a production capacity of 250 composite beams per week for the new 6,000 square meter facility.
According to Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation, the decision to further expand the group’s presence in Kaunas was a straightforward one. “The new factory in Lithuania will eventually bring us the required capacity,” stated Mr Paananen. “Peikko already has a well-functioning production unit in Kaunas, thus the decision to build the new factory there was quite easy to take. In terms of logistics, Lithuania is perfectly located to effectively supply our production to our current main markets in the Baltic Sea region”, he added.
At present, Peikko has the largest portfolio of orders for its Deltabeam® composite beams in its history, and the production capacity of the existing factory in Kaunas is not sufficient to meet current demand. The new unit in Kaunas will boost Peikko’s production capacity by more than 30 percent.
The company has already been granted all the necessary building permits, and construction of the new facility is due to start in the 3rd quarter of 2017. Peikko will be hiring not only new manufacturing staff, but also project management specialists, designers and 3D modelling experts in Lithuania.
