Stainless steel leader Outokumpu to expand its Business Service Center in Vilnius

December 12, 2017

Outokumpu, the global leader in stainless steel, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, is expanding its multifunctional service center in Vilnius. In 2018, the company plans to add 60 more positions for finance specialists. Majority of the positions will be open for applications in the beginning of 2018.

Outokumpu decided to establish a business service center in Vilnius one and half years ago, and after the first year of operation, the center has become an important part of the Outokumpu Group. The center has harmonized the Group’s processes while ensuring timely data submission and compliance to group standards at the same time. The work well represents Outokumpu’s strategy element “High performing organization” – a simple organizational structure, clear roles and responsibilities, and a high level of individual accountability.

Outokumpu is currently conducting a business transformation program focusing on harmonizing business processes and ways of working and paving the way for Outokumpu’s digital transformation beyond 2020. Outokumpu Vilnius site manager Daiva Sereikiene comments: “The Outokumpu Vilnius Business Service center has a continuously growing role in this transformation. The further expansion of the Vilnius unit will provide 60 new career opportunities for young talents as well as experienced professionals.”

“Outokumpu Service center is a prime example of establishing a new unit and consolidating functions efficiently in one go instead of a gradual change. Outokumpu’s decision to expand its service center is showing trust in on the Lithuanian labor market”, says Mantas Katinas, general Manager of investment agency Invest Lithuania.

Outokumpu Service center in Vilnius provides finance, master data, procurement, and IT services mainly in English, but some other European languages are used as well. The center currently employs approximately 100 people.

Outokumpu has manufacturing operations in Finland, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Mexico and the USA. Outokumpu employs some 10,000 professionals in more than 30 countries, with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. In 2016, the company’s sales were 5.7 billion euros and stainless steel deliveries 2.4 million tonnes. Outokumpu is listed in Nasdaq in Helsinki.
