On Wednesday, Kitron officially opened its new manufacturing plant and centre for engineering services in Kaunas. According to a stock exchange announcement, this is an important production centre for Kitron, and underlines the strategic importance of its operations in Lithuania.
Kitron prioritises the high-value sectors of industries that have requirements that go beyond competitive prices, sectors where specialised expertise is required, where the margin of error is extremely small, and where the ability to handle complex and changing customer requirements is valued. The service sections of our company, and especially our advanced test development services, are growing. Our employees in Kaunas and the expansion of our facilities in Lithuania play a decisive role in the implementation of this strategy, says Peter Nilsson, CEO of Kitron.
An investment of 7 million euros in the newly constructed 5,000 square meter facility enables, according to the company statement, the company to expand its existing production area to 13,000 square meters and create a further 60 jobs. From now on, the company will not only produce in Lithuania, but also develop new products, with a special focus on engineering services. Engineers will carry out prototyping, monitoring of product design, component engineering services, and project management services.
