Dutch IT company Centric opens office in Kaunas

December 05, 2018

On December 4, the subdivision of Dutch IT giant Centric was officially opened in Kaunas. Centric IT Solutions Lithuania is gathering a strong team of IT professionals. Over 250 employees are expected to be employed in the company in three upcoming years. Open positions are listed on the Work in Lithuania platform.

Centric is one of the largest Dutch IT companies with offices located in 9 European countries and the United States. Currently, nearly 20 employees already work in the cozy and modern company offices located in Kauno Dokas business center, and in the next three years, the company plans to employ around 250 people in total.

“In planning the development of Centric and searching for the most suitable location for the subdivision, a comprehensive research was conducted and cities of various countries analyzed. The Company selected Kaunas because of its technological universities that prepare highly skilled professionals, airport that offers comfortable flights, favorable environment for investors, and cultural environment similar to the Dutch one. Seeing how quickly we are attracting talented people and building the Centric team in Kaunas, I have no doubt that we had made the right decision.” Karim Henkens, the CEO of Centric said during the opening ceremony.

The new subdivision in Kaunas will expand the Centric team with people who will ensure the smooth operation of existing products, standardize processes and support and create cloud engineering for corporate clients – businesses and organizations across the world. In the future, the company plans to establish an international Centric customer service center in English and Scandinavian languages. According to the head of Centric IT Solutions Lithuania Paulius Samoška, in building the team in Kaunas, a great deal of attention is being paid to integration, both between employees working on different tasks and subdivisions of different countries that currently employ around 4300 Centric employees.

The official opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Lithuania Bonnie Pascalle Evelyn Horbach, the rector of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Eugenijus Valatka and Kaunas vice-mayor Simonas Kairys.

“You are a successful example of Dutch business in Lithuania, combining a high potential of technological capabilities with expert knowledge and thus creating future solutions. You, the Centric community, know better than anyone else that when all the markets turn to digitization, it is essential to take advantage of technology when building smart solutions that make our everyday lives easier. I have no doubt that many such solutions will be born here in the Centric subdivision of Kaunas. The fact that such serious IT market players as Centric came to Kaunas shows that this city is gradually becoming an important center for innovation and technology,” Ambassador B. P. E. Horbach said addressing the guests during the opening event of Centric.

When congratulating Centric on its decision to come to Lithuania, S. Kairys, the vice-mayor of Kaunas wished the company to become the immediate part of the city, noting that more and more Dutch investors are discovering and choosing Kaunas. One of the reasons behind their choice are the talented professionals, many of whom are being trained at the Kaunas University of Technology. As the university rector E. Valatka noted, it is no accident that one of the most popular study programs at the university is program systems, and KTU, which is one of the leading universities in Lithuania, ambitiously aspires to become the strongest not only in Lithuania, but also in the region.
