BS Elcontrol – a Swedish company designing and manufacturing control cabinets and automation equipment– has announced expanding their production base in Šiauliai. In the following three years, the company plans to grow their team from 35 to 80 employees (both LT and SE).
The company has been an active employer in Šiauliai since 2007 and has already seen a wave of expansion in the last two years when it grew to 10 employees, and now them expecting to grow to 30 employees in the near future. The Lithuania-based team is responsible for assembling control cabinets, automation equipment and low voltage switchgear which are then exported, mostly to Nordic countries.
The control cabinets assembled in Lithuania are used to control refrigeration processes in supermarkets and other facilities. They are also programmed to control robotic arms, adjust climate inside of buildings, and control other automated processes in a wide range of industries, from marine automation to property automation.
The Šiauliai-based branch of BS Elcontrol has been a crucial component in the overall success of the enterprise, CEO Jonas Kewenter believes.
“Our team in Šiauliai plays an important role in the entire structure of the company, as it is the only production facility outside of Sweden,” CEO Jonas Kewenter, says. “We value every single employee and provide them with all the opportunities of professional growth. Currently, we are looking for qualified electricians who are willing to become a part of an international company with a well-recognized name in the world of automation.”
“Larger cities focus more and more on attracting high-value-added jobs in both manufacturing and services. Sooner or later the country’s regions that already face a shortage of specialized labour will take this route as well. This is why attracting jobs in the fields of electronics and mechanical engineering into the sectors that create high-value-added products and pay better wages, is the direction that such regions as Šiauliai or Panevėžys should take,” Virginijus Sinkevičius, the Lithuanian Minister of Economy says.
According to Mantas Katinas, Managing Director of Invest Lithuania, the successful operations of BS Elcontrol in Šiauliai that span more than a decade, serve as an example of the region’s potential to manufacturers.
“Almost a fifth of the workforce in the Šiauliai region is employed by the manufacturing sector, and a large part of those are skilled in mechanical and electric engineering. The region’s network of vocational schools and colleges help to constantly replenish the labour pool, as new manufacturers discover Šiauliai and established manufacturers expand”.
BS Elcontrol has been active in the industry since 1985 and is now one of the leading suppliers of refrigeration installation control cabinets in the Nordics. The company’s subsidiary in Šiauliai, Lithuania, is in charge of series production and standardised system solutions.
